Here we go again...

Heard about the cheap woman pastor who wrote "I give the Lord 10% of my pay, why should I give you 18%?" on the receipt, instead of tipping her waitress at Applebees?

The pastor said she was embarrassed when one of the waitress's co-workers posted the ticket online (even though it did not identify her) and demanded that everyone be fired, certainly a fine example of Christian compassion...

Instead, the company fired the waitress who posted the tag even though it didn't identify the company.

We think they should also taste the wrath of The Waitress Protection Program (Boycott Applebees!).

Dear Applebees: Hire her back, make some sort of gesture of contrition and we'll remove this posting.

NOTE: We had intended to post a link to this story but were overwhelmed by 9,000,000 plus "hits" on Google and doubt there's much we can do or add to it...

It's all MY fault?

I just wanted to let you know that calling for a boycott on Darden's restaurants is working, and that you are screwing over my daughter and, subsequently, my family.  As a server, or former server, or whatever you are, you know that the server's survive on tips.  I am also a former server, bartender, cocktail waitress, it's how I put myself through college.  My daughter is a 23 year old server at Olive Garden in Pittsburgh.  I am a divorced mother and my children's father, my ex-husband, is a deadbeat dad.  I helped put my daughter through college as much as possible, along with grants, loans, and her waitressing job.  Now I have a second child in college.  Are you aware that, by calling for a boycott on restaurants you are not hurting the restaurant as much as you are the server?  My daughter made $15.00 yesterday, not worth the gas it took to get to and from work.  Now I am putting more money toward helping her, taking away from my 19 year old and leaving myself with nothing at all, because of this stupid boycott.  She cannot survive on $2 and some change per hour.  By boycotting Darden that is what you are doing, paying her $2 an hour, since the boycott is taking away customers who tip her.  I was a server at ChiChi's in the 80's and I also made under minimum wage, that is the point of tips.  While I hate the fact that they are doing this to take away healthcare (she's under 26 so she is covered under mine, thanks to Obamacare), you and your boycott are taking money out of her pocket, and, subsequently, out of the pockets of me and my other kids.  So think before you act.  Darden can take the hit.  The servers, who are the people being punished by this boycott, cannot.  So from my family, thanks for nothing, you are hurting us, not helping.

Actually, Darden is screwing over your daughter and as an accountant, YOU should know better (Darden instituted tip pooling, nothing I would EVER condone).

I raised a family as a server and Darden and their ilk are now making it impossible for mothers (especially single mothers) to pay their bills.

While we sympathize with your daughter's plight, this abomination of a trend needs to be stopped IMMEDIATELY.

Were Darden to reverse their stance on tip sharing, we would pull the site down, but until then...

Denny's and Papa John's Pizza make the list...

Florida Denny's franchisor & Papa John plan to reduce employees to part time to avoid health care insurance costs

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/13408899-dennys-and-papa-johns-fight-obamacare

Like Wal Mart, they are passing their responsibilities on to the tax-payer as well as gutting the grand old institution of waitressing.

DISCLAIMER:  I have to admit to a long and checkered history with Denny's. I worked for them for 14 years (at least 6 different stores, company & franchise) and it didn't end well.

They know what they did...

BOYCOTT DARDEN RESTAURANTS

Recently, Darden Restaurants, who bill themselves as "the world's largest full service restaurant company", a national chain with over 2,000 outlets including Red Lobster and Olive Garden, decided to take from the hard working servers and give to themselves.

The company unilaterally gutted the server's health coverage by declaring them all part-timers and instituted a tip pool, where the servers subsidize the restaurant by giving most of the other employees a cut of their tips and saving Darden approximately $5 per hour per employee (with 180.000 employees - their own figures - @ 30 hours per week that works out to approximately $3,000,000,000 a year)...

Three Billion Dollars a year will buy a whole heap of health care coverage (but they aren't buying any health coverage), the reason they initially gave for this horrendous attack on the right of hard working servers to support themselves and their families.

Could there be more to it than this, like a mountain of enormous, unmitigated greed?

That means they get away with paying the employees a whopping $2.18 per hour, instead of the federally mandated minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Like Wal-Mart, they are passing on their responsibilities to the community, instead of shouldering their fair share.

Their web site pays appropriate lip service to how they treat their customers, diversity & inclusion, foundation & community affairs & sustainability (blah, blah, blah) but just take a look at how they treat the hardest working employees, the very people who made their vast empire possible...

I went through this crap maybe 15 years ago when Chevys Mexican Restaurants did the same thing. I had supported my family as a server for most of my life, working 2 jobs just to get by and now, they've taken that option off of the table for all future servers if this nonsense isn't immediately forced to a grinding halt.

This needs to be stopped NOW!

We call on all hard working servers, former servers and future servers to boycott ALL Darden Restaurants.

Tell your friends, family & co-workers...

If you have stock in this company, please think about unloading it as soon as possible. If this boycott has any teeth, the prices will fall soon so take advantage of knowing what you know and get out now.
